Saquon Barkley shines on Eagles debut, Jalen Hurts and co. overcome Packers in a high scoring game
Saquon Barkley’s heroics have helped the Eagles overcome the resilient Green Bay Packers in a high scoring game. Eagles vs. Packers was the first ever NFL game in Brazil and the crowd at the Neo Quimica Arena witnessed an action-packed thriller, to say the least.
Saquon Barkley, who signed a 3-year, $37.75 million deal, had a dream debut at the Eagles. Barkley scored 3 touchdowns (2 rushing, 1 receiving), rushed 109 yards alongside 24 carries. Eagles’ wide receiver A.J. Brown caught 5 passes for 119 receiving yards and a 67-yard touchdown. Linebacker Zack Baun brought his A-Game with 15 tackles and 2 sacks, with the most important one coming in the last 5 seconds of the game when he sacked Packers’ back-up QB Malik Willis.
In the post game interview, Barkley stated, “I am always about visualizing success and putting positivity in my mind.” He became the first player since Terrell Owens in 2004 to score 3 touchdowns in his Eagles debut.

Despite starting the season on a winning note, Eagles have a few things to take away from the game. The Eagles’ defense looked sub-par as they conceded 4 touchdowns to the Packers’ offense. Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts looked a little sloppy as his judgments and decision making seemed off.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and his boys should relish the win over the Packers but they need to be careful. The Eagles had a 10-1 record before losing 5 of their last 6 games, including an embarrassing loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Trouble for Packers with the Jordan Love Injury
Jordan Love was seen limping off the field with just 6 seconds left in the Eagles vs. Packers game. Packers coach Matt LaFleur had no updates on Love’s injury and gave a short answer when asked about the same. “Hope he’s okay” was all LaFleur had to say.
Jordan Love signed a 4-year, $220 million contract with the Packers in JUly of 2024. His average annual value of $55 million ties him with Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow for the highest in NFL history.
